TIME
Time's Palette
The moment surrenders nothing...
but gives all.
Unforgivingly, it stretches into years,
making no promises -
but holding earth and sky on a palette...
waiting for the colors we choose.

The Day
A small glass table
holds a single candle.
It's all I need to see the night.
And when the sun rises,
one window will suffice,
to glean the promise of the day.
Yet on the fringes of this simple world,
lie shadows of unrelenting clutter...
I try to sort and pack or throw away.
And as I struggle with my stuff -
time laughs and shudders at my disarray
and confronts me with its greatest lesson...
Enjoy the day.

Reminders in the Sea
Wizards of time -
waves licking the shore,
nemesis portrait,
with promises
of fish and frolic, in between.
A well of wishes,
nurtured by the wind and air.
Boundless histories,
against which we weigh
our captured fare.
Locked in by limits we fear
or doors we fail to see.
Search...
Wonder.
Grasp a piece
of the imperial dynasty.
Pan out the nuggets
and distill despair.
Climb up -
Ride on the surf
of one quivering wave,
portioned out
to be your share.

Realization
A herald of loneliness echoes here,
beyond the pain, beyond the tear of unrealized hope.
A cradle of emptiness rocks in the wind that blows nowhere.
Moments lost, but not forgotten -
a kiss grown cold,
faded smiles,
mementos of what might have been -
similes of greatness -
a half-hearted effort to find a poem in the sky,
on a very foggy day.
