LOVE

Knowing

When my soul has found its peace

and the hours and minutes

shed into melting clay -

When shadows catch a burning light

and the pulsing day

turns into peaceful night -

When the circle turns upon itself

and meaning looks me in the eye...

I know you will be there.

Together

The stars are so much brighter,

when we look at the sky, together...

step out of our singleness,

to touch and hold -

and ponder, better...

who we are.

You

The thought of you

makes me smile.

The thought of you

makes doing the dishes easy

and washing the floors a breeze.

The sound of your name

makes time stand still.

The sound of your voice

makes the moment magical

and fills my heart with longing.

The sight of you

opens a new door,

to a room I've visited before -

where the possibilities glitter

like stars in the sky...

I love you.

Tapestry

A boiling sunrise

begs in a golden day,

of endless meadows,

enveloped in buttercup haze.

A Samson strength,

clothe in a gentle smile.

Piercing -

engaging.

Memories of pain

are lost in the luster of your limbs,

quivering in the flashing sun.

Yellow skies

melt in your burning rays.

A throbbing hand,

weaving me into a tapestry...

clutching the need to be.

Longing

And when the gray evening comes,

I'll have a rainbow splashed on my memory -

A whirlwind of color and light -

Your smile, your voice, your touch

play their magic on my soul.

Refusing any reservations I present,

in my feigned presence of mind,

you make a mockery of fears...

The joy and warmth of life

open like a flower in the spring rain.

Our song grows louder...

We carry a tune, you and I -

A melody I will always hear,

long after our song is done.

The notes will come into my ears,

when the gray evening comes...

This soft, gentle, golden song of One.

Weavers

Tireless weavers rocking -

fixing string into form -

filling days with endless pattern...

Traveling a measured distance,

only to return.

Caught in the cataclysm of design -

never cutting the iron thread of habit...

holding the idea that does not grow.

I saw you briefly, from a distance...

but when I tried to hold your hand,

you stopped your smile...

and fixed your sight.

And then I knew that we could talk,

but never kiss.

Each of us held by our plans...

tireless weavers rocking.

Norway

From a foggy mist of loneliness and doubt,

I caught a glimpse of Norway...

like a wistful, billowing crest -

Colored by the sun,

Smiling, shining and cool,

Adding pleasure to the harbor,

Winding down the fjord,

Then...turning and disappearing, behind the mountain's edge...

Leaving me nothing but the memory -

of a gentle smile of Norway.

The Soul's Garden

We've talked like this, so many times, before.

Like a robber, trying to break into your heart,

I execute my plan.

And, like so many times, before,

I see the ice in your eyes

and hear the lies...

that wither into the silence that delivers pain.

But, now, I've hatched another plan

and I have built a flower in my soul...

that opens in the rain.

Shadows

Memories hang like laundry,

blowing in the wind -

different sizes, shapes and colors -

a shiny job, a finished goal...

the grey sheets of failures

and lost friendships...

shadows of spent days.

But the colors that I don't see -

the shapes that did not form...

were never snatched and molded

into a hope come true...

remind me most of you.

This Joy

Falling in love, again...

I wonder that I still find room,

among the ruins of my heart.

But this time...

When I look

at the sweetness of your smile,

I think this joy

has finally found a home.
